A note on pronunciation

Remember that an isolated "i" (an "i" that doesn't have its pronunciation stipulated on the pronunciation page) is pronounced as a short vowel, as in thin or little. Avoid pronouncing it like the long vowel in finger, especially in words like siri, viri, or lila. Only "ii" is pronounced long.

The letter "ë" is always pronounced as a short vowel, like tent or fender, even though it's most often found in syllables which aren't stressed (exceptions : hiëra, siëa).

The letter "c" is always pronounced hard (as in candy, never as in circus).
